Vegan-Nourishing Food-Beyond Broth
Get Back to the Roots.
Beets, carrots, sweet potatoes, blue potatoes, golden potatoes,
turnips, rutabagas, garlic and onions--What do these vegetables all have
in common? They all come from underground—they are the roots of the
plant.
Rich in vitamins and minerals, root vegetables have a high
concentration of nutrition because they absorb nutrients from the soil.
Many are high in vitamin C, B vitamins and vitamin A. Many of these root
vegetables are also rich in antioxidants. Some root vegetables like
sweet potatoes support and maintain blood sugar levels. Vegetables like
carrots and sweet potatoes are high in vitamin A, thereby supporting eye
health.
Vegetables such as onions and garlic have anti-viral and
anti-bacterial properties and support a healthy immune system. Beets are
rich in iron and benefit the blood and encourage detoxification in the
body.
During this transition in to fall and the cold weather season, the
body can tremendously benefit from incorporating root vegetables into
the diet. The body is more vulnerable and susceptible to getting sick.
The immune system is often compromised as it adapts to dropping
temperatures, rain and snow.
Root vegetables nourish the body, and are jam-packed with nutrients.
Do yourself a favor this fall and treat your body well with good food.
Root vegetables should usually be cooked, but some can be eaten raw.
They are especially delicious roasted or added into soups, and can be
found in all of the Beyond Broth products. Remember to get organic
roots if possible and keep the tops. Some of the leaves, like the greens
on beets have high nutritional value.

Breakfast- Beyond Broth
Bone or Veggie Broth...Which to Choose and Why?
Last week, our team member in the spotlight was Anjaneya, a lover of
both bone broth and our nourishing vegan broth. This week we’re covering
the benefits of both. Anjaneya loves to combine the two as each variety
has nutritious and delicious health and wellness benefits.
What is bone broth?
Bone broth, also referred to as a stock, is culinary infusion made
by boiling bones of healthy animals with vegetables, herbs and spices.
It can be made from the bones of beef, bison, lamb, poultry, or fish,
and vegetables and spices are usually added for extra nutrition and
flavor.
Rich in minerals, bone broth also encourages a healthy immune system
and supports digestion. High in calcium, magnesium and phosphorus, bone
broth also supports bone and tooth health. Bone broth has high
amounts of collagen thereby supporting joints, hair, skin, and nails. In
fact, some even suggest that it helps eliminate cellulite as it
supports smooth connective tissue.

And for you Vegans and Vegetarians
For all you veggies and vegans out there, Beyond Broth has developed
a variety of broth that is full of both flavor and nutrition. Say
good-bye to boullion! All vegan and vegetable broths are both
mineralizing and alkalizing. They help to bring balance to a body that
consumes acidic-rich foods like coffee, red meat and sugar. Vegan broths
also contain phytonutrients that support the immune system. Some
broths, especially Beyond Broth contain vegetables that aid in the
production of collagen in the body, including but not limited to beets
and spinach. Other vegetables include celery, seaweed, kale and
soybeans.

Heart Healthy- Beyond Broth
How to Get & Stay Healthy this Fall.
The theme for this month is "How to Get & Stay Healthy this Fall".
Let's begin with a simple idea... do what feels good. Do what feels
good for your body, mind and for the soul inside! If you do not feel
good inside, how can you live a life that makes you happy? How can you
do what you love if you don’t feel good first? To be well is to live
well.
Beyond Broth supports wellness. Integrating this broth into your
lifestyle is an act of preventative health care. Hippocrates said, “Let
food be your medicine.” Let what you put into your body be a ritual of wellness.
Wellness is a conscious lifestyle where the choices we make are guided by the desire to live fully and joyously.
The National Wellness Institute defines wellness as “an active
process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward, a
more successful existence.” By this definition it is possible to
connect the movement of preventative health care and wellness.
Wellness is a self-directed, empowering and evolving process.
Wellness is multi-dimensional and holistic. Wellness, at the very
core, is the most fundamental component of living a quality life. It
influences every part of living. Wellness supports how a person
participates in their environment and community; the enrichment of life
through a person’s work and its interconnectedness to living and
playing; the development of ethics, values and belief systems.
Wellness is maintained by specific actions that
will strengthen the person, so that when the immune system is
compromised, the body will be strong and resilient. The body can better
handle stress, injury and illness.
Regular physical activity, spending time in nature, healthy eating
habits, hydration, personal responsibility, self-care, rest, and
receiving therapeutic, manual therapies such as massage, chiropractic
care, and other healing modalities. In turn, self-esteem, discipline,
determination and a sense of direction in life are developed and
sustained. Wellness also supports creativity and strong cognitive
function.
Insurance companies will cover “preventive medicine,” as regular
check-ups from your medical doctor, vaccinations and flu-shots, but YOU can take control of your health in much safer and more affordable ways.
Make the choice to be well right now!
Begin with simple action steps suggested as well as in our Daily Rituals article below.
Beyond Broth was created to nourish the world, and in turn to
inspire wellness. Beyond Broth is part of the movement towards a
healthier and happier world.
Here's to your health!

Loving- Beyond Broth
Nourishing the Festival Culture.
People are waking up... waking up to what is happening in our communities and in the world, and it’s not all sweet. There is much suffering and fighting, deceit and conflict in politics. War persists between countries and cultures, and it's becoming harder and harder to avoid. But art has found a way into our hearts and hands and out of our heads, into the collective.Festivals of many varieties are providing a space to possibly heal some of this global wounding. Through artistic performance in musical instrumentation and song, story-telling and dance, interactive installations, children’s entertainment, street theatre, etc., healing happens. Festivals have become a retreat, a place to re-charge and re-member the collective as a cooperative. It is at these festivals that people find themselves and each other in a world of beauty, play and unity.
When you venture out of town into the world of festivals, fairs, concerts and outdoor gatherings, it is extra important, if not necessary, to stay tuned into your body’s needs and health. When the energy is high and there’s so much to do, there doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day to have a wholesome, nourishing meal.
Beyond Broth offers a solution. It is possible and encouraged to stay nourished and light to keep moving and playing out there, whether you’re on the playa at Burning Man, out in the middle of the forest, in the mountains or on hot county fairgrounds. Furious dancing, play and movement calls for extra measures of self-care. Often times, the music and fun goes until the wee hours of the morning... and it get’s chilly at night! Then we start all over in the morning often times pushing the limits. Beyond Broth offers warming and nutritious food to keep you fueled and your spirits high.
So play and dance on; remembering to laugh, invigorate the soul, drink lots of water and do so with a healthy body and mind!
